Frederick Hawkins
Frederick Hawkins (Service No 2726), was born in Taunton, England around 1894.
At enlistment, in Kiama, N.S.W., he was single, 21 years old, worked as a miner and lived in Corrimal, N.S.W.
Frederick embarked on HMAT A24 Benalla, with 37th Battalion, 5th Reinforcement, on 9th November 1916.
He arrived in England on 9th January 1917, and joiined 37th Battalion in France, on 30th April 1917. On 22nd May 1917, Frederick was admitted to hospital, for treatment of a hernia. He was repatriated to Australia in September 1917, and discharged medically unfit, on 29th December 1917.
Frederick died in Wallsend, N.S.W., in 1970.
