Hedley Spencer Edwards
Hedley Spencer Edwards (Service No 6249), was born in Parramatta, N.S.W.
At enlistment, he was married, 32 years old, worked as a driver and lived in Wollongong, N.S.W.
He named his mother as next of kin, but this was changed soon after, to his wife, Ada Martin, who he had married in 1916.
Hedley embarked on HMAT A14 Euripides, with 13th Battalion, 20th Reinforcement, on 9th September 1916, arriving in England on 25th October 1916. He had some sickness whilst in England, and did not join 13th Battalion until 24th October 1917. Hedley saw service on the Western Front until the end of the war.
He was returned to Australia in May 1919 and discharged medically unfit on 14th August 1919.
In 1929, his wife Ada died, and he married Sarah Dexter in 1932.
Hedley died in 1959.
