William Roe (Service No 675) was born in Birmingham, England in January 1878.

William came to Australia and was living with his sister at Bulli when he enlisted. At the time of enlistment William was a single 37 year old labourer from Bulli.

William embarked on HMAT A32 Themistocles with B Company, 17th Battalion on 12th May, 1915. After arriving in Egypt, he was sent to Gallipoli but was evacuated to hospital in Malta sick on 24th October, 1915. He rejoined his unit in Egypt on 13th February, 1916.

William arrived in France on 17th March, 1916 and saw service on the Western Front.

William was returned to Australia on 14th December, 1918 and discharged on 24th March, 1919. He died in 1952.
