Patrick Kane
Patrick Kane (Service No 1238) was born in Glasgow, Scotland about 1876. At the time of enlistment he was described as a single 38 year old miner living at Scarborough, NSW. He had previously spent 12 years in the Militia and 2 years in South Africa.
He embarked on HMAT A39 Port Macquarie on 21st December 1914. After training in Egypt he was sent to Gallipoli where he was wounded. Patrick was evacuated to the Hospital Ship Dongola but died at sea on 4th May 1915. He is remembered on the Lone Pine Memorial.
