Samuel Hay McNair
Private Samuel McNair (Service no. 651) was born in Temora circa 1893. At the time of enlistment the family were living in Wollongong.
Samuel was described as a single 21 year old baker. He embarked on HMAT A38 Ulysses on 22nd December, 1914 with F coy 13th Battalion. After training in Egypt he sailed for Gallipoli and saw plenty of action from the start. He was engaged in the desperate fighting at Quinn's Post and was killed there on 3rd May, 1915.
Private McNair has no known grave and is remembered on the Lone Pine Memorial. His brother Henry (Service no. 1943) died of wounds in 1917.
